The Kagel

On the evening of 3/23/00, Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner attended a music scoring session at the home and studio of their compadre and my mentor, Allee Willis. Collaborating with the brilliant songwriter on the score for “Fat Girl”, an animated series I art direct on the Oxygen channel, are famed songwriters Brenda Russell and Stephen Bray. After a seering guitar solo by Jane Wagner and percussion overdubs by the rhythmic Lily, a delightful riff was created to accompany a ‘Fat Girl’ scene about Kegeling, an aerobic lift that exercises the muscles around the vagina. Manning the controls for the evening’s workload was Murray the engineer, aka Scott Blockland.
