"Learning To Swim"

I used to see Martha every summer at the lake. She burned easily and liked to stay covered up, even when she went into the water. Here she is with her daughter Marine, teaching the precious little guppy to swim. I saw Martha recently in the pool at the Holiday Inn in Las Vegas and she was still fully clothed. That’s how I recognized her and so I painted her picture. This action painting measures 9′ x 12″ – “not too big, not too small”. It is executed with acrylic paint on canvas board.
