"Still Life – Lovely Gefilte Fish and Garnish"
I don’t know which ocean the gefilte comes from, but I sure hope to fish there someday. I first tasted this distinctive molded amphibian at my friend Ceal’s “Bridge ‘n Dreidel” Chanukah celebration. I was quite surprised by its taste and to this day keep a jar or two around the house. I apologize for not painting the jelly that usually accompanies the gefilte, but I have never warmed up to that particular foodstuff. I hope it doesn’t ruin the authenticity of this lovely Yiddish plate.
